Personal work

misc mattes Here's my 2011 Matte Painting Reel with various projects I've worked on in the last few years compiled together. I've created matte paintings for feature film and TV, and extended those skills into interactive content, print and other mediums.

Don't forget to check out the pages above for more updated work! Enjoy!

Brief description of Matte Painting
Matte Painting is a classic term used to describe a person who would paint a background environment, typically on glass, then matte out a specific area to expose the footage beneath allowing the two elements to exist in the same composite. Today Matte painting doesn't really exist in the same way as it once did. However the term has stuck around to describe an artist who creates digital environments for feature film and TV. Matte Painting also extends to other painting tasks such as painting wounds on a persons face, or blending make-up in areas where it doesn't hold up very well. There's many tasks in which a matte painter's skills can be requested.

  1. Absolutely love your work, especially the destroyed cities. I plan on using the stock images in some composites. If you ever want to collaborate on something, please let me know!
